He has expertise in production and as a trainer in the following computer applications: Photoshop; QuarkXpress; After Effects; Final Cut; DVD Studio Pro; Media 100; Illustrator; and Flash.
Stephen Blauweiss is an independent filmmaker and graphic designer. He is currently executive producer of BigGreenTV: An Environmental News and Video Site and produces short films on Chronogram magazine's cover artists. He has produced two independent features, and has produced and directed numerous documentaries on New York-based artists, including Pop Artist Robert Indiana. His film on artist Joan Steiner and her Look-Alikes screened at Mass MoCA in 2009-10 and at the New York State Museum as part of a solo exhibition of Ms. Steiner's work in 2007-08. Other documentaries of Mr. Blauweiss' have screened in Europe and Canada.
He applies his interest in history to his documentaries, which include: New York City—its culture, history, neighborhoods, architecture and notable citizens, with a particular emphasis on the history of its music, its African-American citizens, and African-American musical forms during the early- to mid-20th century, as well as American pop, blues and jazz of the 20’s-70’s; Surrealism/Dadaism; and Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
A native of New York City, his education includes the High School of Art & Design and Pratt Institute.
